6v motor not working as expected

Question

I'm powering it from a 5v DC wall wart and I have an identical motor that seems to be working fine. Does anyone know what is wrong with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Will

Hi Will, Do you have a 6 volt battery you can try it on. It looks to me like the current draw of the motor is causing the wall wart to do a current overload shut down. If you can get it to spin continuously on a battery this is likely the cause. There may still be something wrong with the brushes or a partially shorted rotor winding, as suggested by Saurabh, which is causing the current overload. Usually if it they have a bad communtaor or winding they will have a dead spot where they do not start and then will spin if started manually. John
