TBHS Build Idea: Automatic targeting bidet.

First off, Bidets are the best. Dry paper is just such a crude way to clean!

But it can be awkward to get a Bidet jet to line up properly for the best clean. My build idea for the show is to make some kind of device that automatically aims the cleaning water stream. My guess is that it would need some kind of low light camera, perhaps an Infrared sensitive one with a few LEDs. This could then use some kind of software to aim the water stream at the right place.

I know this might seem like a bit of a silly idea, but for elderly or people with restricted movement it could make life quite a bit easier.

I was about to ask if it was IOT enabled - and then I noticed the remote control - endless fun possible when you average OAP mixes this one up with the TV. I'm downgrading to leaves - it'll be safer. …

You just can 't put a camera there - it's bad enough when your security camera is hacked, but your bidet camera .... aaaargh!!! MK

This made me smile image I can see the merit of this idea but I am not sure about the practicalities, nor how they could adequately test and demo it for an online video! I'm also not entirely sure people would be comfortable with a camera mounted in their bidet! Next thing you know somebody will make in an IoT enabled camera assisted bidet and we all know how great security is on some of these types of devices image

If they do go for it though, maybe an extension to the idea could be to recognise the person sat on the bidet and automatically adjust the jet to their desired settings? It would be a new alternative to the concept of facial recognition.... image

All things considered, using potable water to clean yourself in a Bidet seems to be wasteful to me.

Paper may be crude, but it beats using leaves or sand.

The first one looks as if the subject has perhaps just encountered a misaligned bidet jet... image

I'd have thought that elderly people would find it easier to just wipe than have to get up off the toilet and waddle across the floor like a penguin with their underwear round their ankles to get to a Bidet lol!!

I could imagine it having different cleaning methods programmed into it though like pulse jet action image

The bidet ( washlet / shower toilet ) is an all-in-one device, no waddling required.

I think they can be purchased as an add-on replacement seat to fit onto an existing WC.
