USB 1GB Flash memory with LCD

Dear Element14 Community,

 

I am trying to build a USB flash memory device with built-in LCD.

 

I need to show the files or a particular file on the LCD.

The LCD needs to be very small similar to these:

image

 

Do not need to have a battery, microphone and audio player capability.

 

Could you please let me know if this is possible?

 

I am planning to 3d print the case myself. I just need the pcb+memory & LCD to be around less than $2.

 

How can I get the memory LCD and PCB built? Should I get the components seperately?

 

Is there a board that I can buy off the shelf that can do these at the lowest possible cost?

  • Sounds like trying to software/firmware hack an MP3 player and then add USB interface is the easiest and cheapest way to do this project.

    There are projects online where people change firmware on MP3 player.

     

    I think it's generally going to be easier and cheaper to meddle with the software in a working piece of hardware, as opposed to trying to build a single piece of hardware.
