Watch as I turn a cheap, compact NES system in to a sleek looking portable! You'll soon see how easy this system is to hack and hopefully newcomers to the hobby will be inspired to try their own projects!

Parts used:

  • Yobo game console
  • HitLights 12V DC / 5V DC (USB) Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack
  • 4.3" car backup monitor (seemingly brandless)
  • USB powered speaker (for amplifier)
  • one original GameBoy 8 Ohm speaker
  • 25k ohm potentiometer
  • Bondo body filler
  • Epoxy

Magic smoke bad. Wow, good ears picking up on those audio imperfections. I really like the Famicom look. Nice work!

Dude this is so cool! Your build gets an instant like for starring your cat! I encourage you to fix the graphic errors and post an update video when you get it set! This was such a functional build using…

Great presentation. Loved the cat bit. The presentation in front of the white board reminded me of a college professor, but in a good way and I thought it had a lot of great information and was presented…

Absolutely 100% lol =D, like a really basic synth, the 'flaws' are even perfect, the satisfaction of creation at such a low level from nothing to something with minimal resources, the purity of achievement feels like it truly resonates ;P with your soul, and probably the universe then..! lol =D GYO has the same effect for me, unearthing/gathering food you have planted hits an essential core of fulfillment! I think AR will be the perfect bridge between gaming, electronics, GYO and many other advanced technologies, fading the gadgety part of tech into the background and back to core principles to be improved upon for the exponential benefits of society!

    This was very entertaining video.

Original, quirky, and featuring a talking cat..  Feels perfectly home on YouTube!

Sound is something that is often overlooked with portable gaming so I love that you took steps to explain and improve the quality as that adds a lot to the immersive experience!

definitely plan to follow up on this, doubly so since I had so much fun doing this project! Yogurt the Cat also thanks you, although I'm not so sure she'll continue to be a staple of all future videos image

Thanks! My day job is actually in game sound, so I tend to take particular notice of details like that image

I appreciate your honest feedback! image My own verbose-ness is definitely something I need to work on--I can't say I have a whole lot of familiarity with being in front of a camera, so I'll be keeping this in mind for the future and try and make things paced a bit better!

thanks, glad you like it! I was pleased with how easy the hardware was to work with, and lucked out finding a battery pack that was able to provide both 5v and 12v without any additional circuitry! I definitely plan to do an update video sometime in the future image
