The Hack Like Heck Competition

See all the project videos in the Maker Film Festival

About Hack Like Heck
Content Partner Program
The Prizes

The element14 Maker Film Festival will release all project build videos on April 5th.  At that point, members will be able to begin voting for their favorite entry.

There are two ways to vote for your favorite video:

  1. "Like" the document that features the builder's video
  2. Share the specific content on social media

While you only have the ability to "Like" a video once, you can share that same video as many times as you'd like across various social media platforms. Each "Like" and each "share" constitutes one vote apiece, so share your favorite builder's video as much as you can in order to rack up more votes and help him or her win the grand prize! Sharing on social media is a great way to expand your outreach and drum up excitement for your favorite video.image

Content creators and fellow tech enthusiasts, want to earn even more votes? Use your social media channels to encourage your followers to visit the element14 Community and "Like" your work. We won't judge you for pestering grandma to vote for your video.

After voting closes on April 11th, we will tally up all of the "Likes" and shares for each video and determine the winners. A total of 10 winners will be announced on April 13th. The top five builders whose videos receive the most Community votes will join an additional five builders (including the grand prize winner) selected by the element14 team.

This will be fun. I'm planning to set aside some time to go through the videos. Lots of passionate contestants, who would do a great job promoting engineering: Hack Like Heck

Hi Andy: Only members can "Vote" or "Share" - but it's free to join and all you need is a valid email address. Of course, we would frown upon anyone trying to spam the system with automated or inappropriate…

I personally prefer the use of photos of the people, not the projects. See this article for some context: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2015/01/why-i-am-not-a-maker/384767/

Whilst the feminist overtones don't impact me in the same way they do Debbie, I think she raises a lot of valid concerns in regards to highlighting what is made over those who made it (including those both directly and indirectly involved!)

This seems more relevant to the Hack Like Heck contest especially; you're not voting for a project - you're potentially voting for a new personality to represent the community.

It's a bit easier to get photo's of the people first.

For the next contest: please use pictures of the console, instead of the people who build it image

you can "promote" tweets with money, basically pay twitter to show the tweet to a lot of people. I thought about paying the smallest amount to get some attention towards the contest.

What do you mean by put advertisement? You are welcome to tweet and retweet to get the word out, if that's what you mean.
