Shouldn't all these "element14 Presents" vlogs indicate who the presenter is - on the vlog page - at least their element14 name?

How are members supposed to reference them in a comment? Even their bios don't usually indicate their element14 name.

dougw Very handy list. I admit to searching around for the correct @mention link. I'm pretty sure that Natasha is TechnoChic .

Personally, my only concern with listing the people in the videos is that members might figure out "the intern" is actually just me in a wig!

Some might not want their whole names on the Internet, or want to limit it as much as generally possible, maybe just the first name is sufficient anyway. Workshopshed is the very excellent Andy.

Participation on the Internet is a tradeoff between benefits and risks. Many people feel the risks are too high to have any footprint. Many more feel the risks are only worth it if they use pseudonyms…

baldengineer I advocate on the e14 Presents project page. The "who" isn't always obvious to the most casual observer. If you've been around a while, you probably have acquired the tribal knowledge, but…

I suspect the original idea was that tags would serve this identification purpose. But those get lost in the page noise. (I think there are at least ten variations for me.) And, sometimes, the project…

Do you mean on the actual project page?

I just looked at a couple and noticed the creator's profile isn't linked.

Edit: There are banners at the bottom of the page with links to the creator's other projects and about page. So maybe something could be done to make that banner more visible. And now I see how the "about" pages do not link to the element14 community profile page.

So it might not even be evident to people that the person in the thumbnail is the one replying to comments...

Or did you mean something else?

baldengineer  I advocate on the e14 Presents project page.  The "who" isn't always obvious to the most casual observer.  If you've been around a while, you probably have acquired the tribal knowledge, but newer folks who are looking for other content that you have created must wait for you to reply to a question on that page to make the connection.  While it can be deduced, why can't it simply be added?

Assuming you know baldengineer is an e14 presents host (it isn't apparent by default).

If you search on baldengineer it doesn't come up with Workbench Wednesdays.

If you search for "baldengineer element14 presents" it only comes up with DC to Daylight episodes.

I suspect the original idea was that tags would serve this identification purpose. But those get lost in the page noise. (I think there are at least ten variations for me.) And, sometimes, the project pages get tagged with the wrong content creator.

But I think something to highlight better the creator's (element14 Community) name and other content makes sense.

Even if the names were there, would the search find them?  In the last few days, I've been referring to the two excellent series of blogs about FPGA DSP posted by  fpgaguru, but the only post that the search returns for a search on his user name is one by rscasny  which includes a mention.

Good point. I don't find this particular search engine behavior to be intuitive. I have started putting my handle as a keyword in my blogs to help me find them later. That is sill a tough way to find stuff. Which is why I do an annual summary blog. I only have to find one of those and all the rest are linked.

Here's your blogs using the search:
    /search?q=*#serpauthor=16637&serpcategory=blog&serpsort=date%20desc

The #serpauthor= parameter is your username's ID number in the system. You should be able to change the search using the filters on the right hand side of the search page.
