DIY Electronic Controlled Motorized Wheelchair - Question

Hi, 

I recently stumbled upon the DIY wheelchair  created ( DIY Electronic Controlled Motorized Wheelchair -- Episode 550   ), I loved the idea and wanted to create something similar. I am hoping to make the wheelchair a bit faster/stronger. I was wondering if you know of any motors and motor drivers that can help me out. I am looking for a little more torque and speed within $100. I am using an Arduino for this. Please let me know if you know any!

  • If you want to do things on a budget then perhaps you could repurpose the in-wheel motors from a "hoverboard". You know - those two-wheeled fire-hazard death-trap balance boards that everyone soon got tired of.

    You should be able to find one very cheap (or sometimes free) and there's plenty of videos on YouTube of people doing things with them.
