In the late 80s, Andy played games and learned to program on the Toshiba T1100 Plus, an upgraded version of the world's first laptop PC. He recently found a similar one with the battery still intact, but of course not working. In this video, he explores the possibility of powering the computer with USB-C. After all, how hard could it be?

I'm not sure I measured it with the screen connected. I figured out what I needed based on the online documentation for the original power supply and 2A should be plenty. 3A is more than enough. I don't have a case for it currently and it's a bit unwieldy, so I probably won't be lugging it anywhere. But it's a lot of fun to tinker with! So many memories of this old machine.

I depends on what you're using for a power supply. If you plugged it into some random 500ma charger you might regret it. But yeah, I was pleased with how well it worked.

That was cool! Only 300 mA? What was the current when the screen was connected? You could stick a USB power bank in there and bring it out to your favorite coffee shop. Bonus points if you can figure out how to Twitter from it Slight smile

    Nice build.

I am surprised that USB power was enough.

Those old TTL logic boards usually consumed a lot of power.
