The Famicom disc system came out in 1986 as an extension of the Famicom, the Japanese version of the Nintendo Entertainment System. It used floppy disks instead of cartridges allowing it to store a lot more data while allowing features like saving before battery backups were a thing. Eventually they partnered with Sharp Corporation to release a model known as the Twin Famicom which had the disk system already built in. Tony Marino does a teardown of the unit to show you what’s inside.
