Lorraine’s kids are always losing their pocket money under the sofa or in the washing machine. Out and about they’d never have their own money or know how much money they had to spend. Lorraine wanted a way to know how much pocket money her kids had inside and outside the home, and to stop feeding the sofa coins. Watch Lorraine use RFID technology to create a Raspberry Pi powered pocket money system for her family. Her kids get their very own “Bank of Mum and Dad” bank cards! The question is: how long before they save up more money than their parents?

lorrainbow Super cool application of RFID! Also, kudos for teaching your children early to know how much is in the "bank". Some folks never learn that ( card ≠ ∞ $). In answer to your question about what…

Nice project. It is always a good thing to introduce kids to money and its value. DAB

Yeah, there's no credit at the bank of mum and dad! When I tear apart a project it's usually for the power supply or the SD card. I always seem to need them the most... I should probably just get a stash…

lorrainbow  Super cool application of RFID!  Also, kudos for teaching your children early to know how much is in the "bank".  Some folks never learn that (card ≠ ∞$).

In answer to your question about what projects are still in use... um-m-m-m... 10%?  Some of my first Arduino projects were load bank controllers for work and they are still in place.  However, I just finished Build Inside The Box and I already want to tear things apart and "improve" them - or use the parts for a different project.  I repurposed my Arduino based RF Detector to test segments of the BITB project, but I did return it to it's original program - for now.  I'll admit, I'm quick to cannibalize a completed project for the project at hand.
