    Nice ! Perhaps could move the unused front wheel sensor onto the chainwheel so as you can get a readout of cadence (crank RPM) alongside speed ? Perhaps add a 'change up' / 'change down' alert if the cadence…

    Thanks, I liked the aesthetics too, most that I've seen are rectangular and blocky, I liked the speedo look.
    As soon as I'd recorded I realised the position is irrelevant, and only the wheel size was required. I must have set up the old unit about 16 years ago (When I got that bike) and can't remember ever having to go through setup again.

    It's bright enough for outside, but also very reflective, I have to angle it on my bike. Maybe you could make a cover/sun visor type thing.

    It has been a little while since I have made the time to watch an Element 14 video, but after seeing this one I know I will now plan on visiting the site for more videos like this one. This is how every video should be done. The presenter, Katie, is great. She makes it seem like everyone who watches this can do it. I just moved Element 14 up to the top of my bookmarks.     Great little project, love the circular screen like a car speedo.  About the magnet on the wheel for your previous speedo - it doesn't matter where on the spokes the magnet is, as your wheel always travels the same distance for one turn.  What matters is how big your wheel is.

    Love this build and am wondering if maybe i could adapt it to fit to a rowing skiff to show speed while rowing. Out of interest, how readable is the display when outdoors?
