Dishwasher Fault Finding and Repair

Since my dishwasher started acting up, and I was going to take it apart, it only seemed appropriate to share it with the community! From the outset I suspected a mechanical issue, not an electrical one, but since it was open any way, it was a good oportunity to take a look inside.

It's always rewarding to fix something. I like the 'teaser' at the end when you suggest the possibility to change out the dish washer's stock electronic controller with a custom design instead.

And this really was rewarding! The trick is finding just the right moment in time when I won't get in trouble at home for taking the dishwasher apart if the new replacement doesn't work!

What features would you look to add if we did replace the controls? Smart home integration, notification on completion, electricity tariff tie in?
