Taking Apart a Philips 32" PFT5500 Smart TV: What's Inside? -- The Electronics Inside 73

Smart TVs - at this stage, I guess most people have one to some degree or another. At the very least everyone is likely to have an LCD TV these days? So let's tear one down and see what makes them tick!!! Thanks to my fellow e14 presenters for letting me raid there personal channels for video content!

That's a great little idea, throw a dimmable controller on the LEDs and a thicker plastic for the front / top!

The light box looks like it would make a good light table - useful for eliminating shadows when photographing or shooting video of components.

There seems to be a lot more variation in modern TVs that CRTs, at least at a macro level! I have to admit, I'm intruguied by Quantim Dot!

    Very good tear down.

I have torn down a broken Plasma TV and my broken 4K TV.

I found the technology inside very interesting.

I have used the diffusion layers as window blinds to cut out the hot direct sunlight into a softer glow for my computer room.

I found the LED's on your TV interesting.

The old plasma TV used compact florescent bulbs.

My 4K TV used a row of bright LED's along the bottom of the screen with a plastic diffusor/light guide to provide uniform illumination over the screen.

These modern TV's are more interesting than the old analog TV's.
