I worked at Wal-Mart around Christmas 2005ish when the Nano first came out, and we sold out immediately. I don't know how many mothers I had to suggest the Creative Zen to as an alternative. We also happened to receive all of those Creative Zen units back as returns on the 26th
I also remember hacking my Nano so it could play video files. You've never watched Serenity until you've watched it on a 0.96" LCD screen!
I loved my Zen Touch. It was brilliant, and just worked! Could charge over USB or a Barrel Jack too.
I seem to remember a device as far back as 1998 that had a hard drive and played music, it was about the size of a discman. Something about a Rabbit Jukebox in the name?
hmmm, I don't know zune at all. I'm trying to remember my first mp3 player. I deliberately didn't have an ipod, but I had something just as expensive and was delighted when my parents got it for me for Christmas.. gaaah! can't remember the name. It was chunky!
