Now that you know the basics of how to use a power supply, wouldn't it be great to have one to use on your very own bench?  Well, you are so lucky because James has one to give away!

James is always looking for novel ideas for how to use the equipment on his work bench. . . so in this contest, he's asking for ideas on the most unique use for a power supply that maybe isn't just using it as a power supply.  (I don't think he means gutting it and using it for a potted plant.)

  • This is not a lie, a fib or a joke. I would sit my kids down and attach electrodes to my body. I would show them how I can move limbs and twitch parts with different settings. Might even let them try playing with it.  We've done this before, however didn't have an actual PSU so it was sketchy not having true control of the flow of electrons.

    I guess with the options available in the power supply you would have a lot more functions available compared to DR-HO'S Pain Therapy System Pro TENS Machine.

     

    I was rather surprised you would think of such an experiment. Then my surprise was elevated when you suggested you would demonstrate it to a child.

     

    I guess you could argue it is no different than a 9VDC battery to the tongue. I will stick with the slight of hand used to simulate the removing of a nose.

    You can't be serious with that? So you are saying you will attach electrodes to your body which are connected to a power supply, which is directly connected to the mains?.

    Please, Don't do that. Never with your kids.

    I didn't say I'd do it to kids.  I also didn't say they were babies that would in any way be entertained by silly faces.

     

    They did ask for the most outrageous use, other than as a standard power supply.. This is a great example of the usefulness of such a well built PSU.  The ability to safely create a low amperage, regulated voltage for precision testing.
