Project14 | Attack of the Drones: What's Your Favorite Sith Droid?

May 6th is Revenge of Sith (also observed by some on May the 5th as Revenge of Fifth).   As part of our Attack of the Drones competitions we are asking you what your favorite Sith Star Wars Drone is. The term droid was coined by Star Wars in 1977 and it refers to a fictional robot having some degree of artificial intelligence.   Your drone project can be inspired by any of the droids below!

  • This was kind of a hard one, I have to admit growing up with the Star Wars movies the Probe Droid was something that gave me those evil thrill chills as he was flying around.  With legs similar to a droid Jelly fish but metal and equipped with numerous sharp pointy and painful options, he made an impact on me when I was young.  But I believe overall the IG-88 has the most potential for notoriety.  Not as easily understood from the movies since he mainly was seen with Boba Fett (IG-88B), but once you start reading up on the plans of the IG-88 model (A-C) it was quite interesting, kind of a Star Wars / Skynet type influence.  https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/IG-88_assassin_droid/Legends  Then with the latest Mandalorian spin off we see a kind of reboot of the IG-88 model with IG-11, so my final leanings are toward the IG-88 even though they don't have as much big screen time, research shows them quite interesting with their story.
