I made this LED 3D matrix display as project of interest. It is an 8*8*8 led cube. With blue diffused LEDs. Diffused LEDs are good in brightness that's why i chose them. Here are some pics and demo.

Okay i will add them soon but these days i am actually busy in exams so I'll not be able to give it in coming days. Hope you can understand that. BTW i followed this link:

What are you using for the driver circuit? How is it all controlled to drive the different…

Using RGB LEDs would be an interesting challenge

It certainly would.
I'm trying to think how you'd manage it, not from the physical point.

Since it's just a single light source, it's either on or off where ON can be a colour.

I bags you try it first.
