I've been wanting to make my own and when this month's science contest was announced I decided it would be a great opportunity to attempt creating an "authentic" tank. There's an easy way to do it, which is to stick piezo elements to a spring and send the audio signal through to an amplifier, but I wanted to try the electromagnetic method. Being an utter beginner at electronics I had to learn new words like "impedence" and "inductance". I also had to resign myself to performing mathematical calculations, rather than relying on my habit, which is to simply build something and hope it works. This process of discovery is shown in the video and in the end, facing today's deadline, I realized that I just didn't have the resources to complete the project. I'm submitting the video anyway, for your entertainment, and my plan is to doggedly pursue the electromagnetic method. Yes! One day I shall make an echo of my own!
