The most effective ways to fight epidemics are methods that limit human-to-human transmission. Unfortunately, door handles are one of the vectors for transmission of the pathogens. Therefore, it is proposed to minimize the contact area between the hand and the door handle. To do this, the door handle is fitted with a add-on, which is a piece of stainless steel wire bent so that several wire loops fix the nozzle on the handle, and another loop was used to transmit force from finger to handle when opening and closing the door. Experimental testing has shown that a standard interior or front door can be opened with just one finger. The maximum force on the finger will be no more than 1-2 kilograms, which makes the add-on suitable for use by both adults and children.
Add-ons of the proposed configuration are put on the door handles at the beginning of the epidemic and removed after it. The process of putting on and taking off the add-on is simple and requires a minimum use of simple tools, such as pliers.
