Electrostatics and viral RNA

sabreblade

Has anyone looked into the effects of statically charging someone upon entering a room with a Tesla coil. The weak electrostatic recombinant nature of viral RNA of the virus on the surface of the individual and their clothing could not withstand the supercharged state of the surface of the individual and the clothes they are wearing.

I find this an interesting concept but do you have any research that backs up what you are saying? I suspect that while the cumulative charge on an object the size of a human might be decent the actual charge at the level of a virus may be quite small. Also in order to get something to happen energy is needed and this would necessitate a potential difference. Most static fields spread out and have fairly equal potential until they are discharged.

    John,

Thank you for your response. I don't have any direct research data, but I have been seeing some connections with other's work including the following article on synthetic viruses and their salinity (electrostatic nature) and osmotic pressure.

Electrostatics and the Assembly of an RNA Virus

Paul van der Schoot et al. Phys Rev E Stat Nonlin Soft Matter Phys. Jun 2005

I hope that other's research on this matter may lead to a new way of eliminating RNA viruses such as covid-19. It may be a step in the right direction.

    Ankur,

Thank you so very much. This is exactly what I was looking for. Messaging them immediately.  We need to build on this and get functional models into production.
