I'm still struggling to apply my limited knowledge of op amps... so I've created a problem to solve... but need your help.

I can follow along other peoples projects but it quickly becomes apparent that I do not fully grasp the fundamentals when I try and solve a problem of my own.

So here is my own problem I'm trying to solve, as shown below:

I have two scenarios. I think the first one is fairly easy, but it is knowing how to achieve the 2nd that is more challenging, especially if you wish to say use the same op amp and even the same circuit the 1st.

How does one go about this?

As per usual, I very quickly try and over-complicate matters... like when spotting these types... Transresistance amplifiers... and wondering whether I should/could use these...

Anyway, no doubt this is a very straightforward problem for the experts.

I look forwards to getting some tips.

Oh wow thanks for that scottiebabe.

The intended PWM frequency was 1kHz, so as you say slew rates become important. Nevertheless, as I was going to use Arduino I believe it would struggle to achieve that if I wanted to also change duty cycle. I know you can use tone command to get 1kHz square wave but that's set at 50% duty cycle. So, I'll probably start with less like 500Hz.

My primary aim for now is, as you say, for "For experimenting and having fun" and then progress onto the application - which now looks to be solved through a non op amp solution as I misunderstood what was been done.

As they say, the best way to learn is by doing. As such I'm in the process of selecting a couple of "jellybeans" (as someone called popular choice components) to order in and play with.

Of course I will also have to seek out a suitable module or solution that gives me -12V as well as +12V... although I now see that requirement has been addressed in another comment. Happy days (just love it when "great minds think alike". ).

oops... clearly I missed or probably forgotten some of my Arduino homework over the years... just brushed up on my PWM, only to discover there's a few simple tricks I could use... ...like how to get Fast PWM Mode...
