Hummingbird Alert!

This project is a real-time webcam on my hummingbird feeder(s).

Features shall include:

  • Night vision
  • Motion detection
  • Identification
  • Video
  • Close up still photos
  • Audio capture
  • email alerts

The raspberry pi based unit will be weatherproofed and battery operated, with solar power backup.

Gang squirrels and ravens with bad attitudes will be dealt with as required.

  • Cool idea. I have tried photographing humming birds, but they don't hang around waiting for you to compose the shot. They are pretty shy and by the time you have them in good focus, they have moved on, and it is definitely tough to catch them in full flight. This shot had very bright backlight. I' be interested to see your results.
