Monthly Theme Poll

This poll is now closed.  You voted for Going Green and it will launch on June 14, 2017!

Please visit Project14 | You Decide the Next Monthly Project Competition! to continue the conversation and vote on the next project competition.

This will be the new place to discuss ideas and vote on project themes moving forward!

How are Monthly Themes selected?

  • On the 14th of every month a new poll will go up with themes to choose from (initial themes and the first two monthly themes were chosen based on feedback from Top Members)*
  • Comments will be used to decide themes for upcoming polls.
  • If you like an idea for a theme you can increase the odds that it will be used in a poll by "liking", "commenting", or "marking it helpful".
  • The poll will close on the 14th of the following month at which time it will be replaced by a new poll.
  • The poll will decide the monthly project competition for the next following month.

How do you submit your own Project14 idea?

  • Present your theme idea in the comments section of the monthly poll
    • If you think of an idea for a monthly project competition theme you can select the final option to vote a new idea which you present in the comments section.
    • You can also vote for an existing theme idea in the monthly poll and submit as many monthly theme ideas as you like in the comments section.
  • If you would like to present an idea but would like feedback from other community members first, you can start a new discussion thread.

Have an idea of your own for a Monthly Theme?

These are all great topics, if they are not selected right away, they shouldn't be completely discarded. Maybe the Project14 page could keep a running list of all ideas. Ideas for future polls home-made…

"Home-made test instrument sounds good. I'd do that one (but then I can cheat because it's on the go already)." Getting a head start is perfectly acceptable "Cool LED display. What does 'display' mean…

wacky automation device or Rube Goldberg machine - like the box with a toggle switch - when you turn it on the box opens and turns off the switch. I like that one ....needs to have something clever about…

Hi everyone - my first post :-)

I like the idea of musical instruments and I also voted for it. I hope it gets enough votes since I am planning a cool little musical project and would be happy to share it here. I have three vintage synthesizer modules and a midi keyboard. I intend to control all these with a Raspberry Pi through midi protocol. My idea is to hook everything to Pi with USB midi cables and GPIO home-made midi interface. Pi would act as a sort of smart midi patchbay / patch selector / programmable midi controller. Programming would go through web interface and performance would be controlled through touch screen. Scripts will be written in Python, PHP and Javascript (yes, most of the project is a software solution). I also plan to build a wooden casing in a shape of an electric piano (somehow inspired by famous Yamaha CP70 electric piano). This instrument will be used in real gigs at some stage. I am sure this would be interesting to some people.

You haven't started yet? I assumed they were all done and dusted, with 10 blogs each ready to go ...

My clock and musical instrument ideas seem to have merged into one composite item (that'll teach me to write in a sloppy and ambiguous way). Someone has already voted for it (not me), so I imagine it will have to say that way now.

Maybe I should have had some idea of an actual project before suggesting a topic.image
