Beaglebone Ai Heating Issues

ipv1

While experimenting with the device, I found that the board would shutdown without warning. The reasons is...

Now I tried a number of combos like us the USB tether, connect with display(yes I have the cursed microHDMI cable) and use standalone but every time, it just overheats if I do anything.

Idle temps are high too. Was wondering if I got a bad board or is it everyone?

Hi shabaz - I've made a first prototype which seems to fit quite well. Packing out the top spacing by one extra washer was enough to get it to grip the existing heatsink fins. I'll make a bracket over…

tariq.ahmad tarriq yea I had problems with the fan.. 5v @ 500ma and it you would see 1.45 volts...ouch. So I tossed the fan on my HP power supply set to .5amps and took it up from Ov through 5v about 8volts it started turning. and then took it up to 12volts. Now works fine on my 5v@500ma wall wart. LOL

My plan is to print a case for it and put a fan in the case as well. BTW if you put a spacer (1-2mm) between the fan and the heat sink you will get more airflow. As there will be less resistance on the fan and will pull more heat out as well.

Thanks phoenixcomm ,  haven't heard a whole lot   Glad to you see you are up and running again.   Will be interesting to see how others use the fan or what solutions people come up with.   Interesting to discussion on fans  here as well:

tariq.ahmad yes the fan and heat sink are issues. I will be putting this in a larger box that I will print. with a real CPU fan on one side and that should help with the cooling. image
