I'm not sure if this has been done before but "TV, Movie and Game Props " would be a fun Project14 theme. Plenty of mechanical design work coupled with electronics. Perhaps after the busy 2019 holiday festive period is over?
Personally I like the idea of an acrylic box full of cotton wool and LEDs. In the 80's this was the master brain called Orac which seemed so cool in the TV series "Blake's Seven".
I am amused at the way my brain works sometimes. When you said "survey" my mind went to the other type, like a marketing survey. Then I read the post and saw my error. I agree, this area would make for a fun investigation. It might also produce some very good information. Another avenue of the same path might be geo-physical movement, like; earthquakes, erosion, water levels, and delta formation.
A great idea luigimorelli . If the image was being read from the internet or provided from a receiver you could process the file directly rather than display it, digitise it again with the camera? That would reduce unwanted noise/reflections on the screen/camera and distortion etc.
I would create a weather station using a PI Zero, a sensor board and a camera. Adding some image recognition software to create a weather forecasting app.
Basically, it automates the configuration of a Pi to transform it into an AP. It's almost entirely self-configuring. Requires very little user effort to get a working AP.

Sorry for not responding sooner. My forte is in the realm of logic flow and schedulers. I am also strong in the realm of interrupts and event driven operations. I would need to refresh on some of the details of architecture of bit-slicing, But I presume it hasn't changed too much since when I studied it, I should be able to catch up.
I don't know if I can fudge it. And the design of the AM2901 lends itself to Harvard Architecture ie. IBM 360, or others. To coerce AM2901 into ARM would be tough by itself, I would have to use external registers out of the ALU and the same bus also would have barrel shifter, the problem is it would take ALOT of time. You have to realize that this means you first write microcode which controls the CPU, then the state diagrams, then use YACC & LEX to generate the code just to run the thing. and then port a small portion of ANSII C really the core math, if, loops. And that doesn't even get to functions, preprocessor, or STDIO lib! it easy way is just getting to Triples and then run that. ie an interpreter. sort of like basic.
ARM/SPARC works like this Variable1, Variable2, Output Now these can be Memory or Registers that why SPARC had 144 including 8 separate registers for integer math!
Sounds like a fun project, and would probably make for a good demo if you take lots of pictures to show all the steps. The constructs of architecture is a little lacking in most curriculums these days.
