Ever so often I come upon a really special event and I think the April 5th webinar on Drone and Quadcopter Design is a perfect example of this kind of event: How to extend flight time and battery life of quadcopters and industrial drones with electronic speed controllers
I had a personal showing of this event by the presenters. It's a well written webinar, built on 2 sections:
- Electronic Speed Controllers for Drones
- Battery Pack for Drones
What's really nice about this webinar is that it gives you the big picture. The first section discusses the following:
- Overview of a Drone
- Trapezoidal vs Sinusoidal considerations
- Software considerations
- Test results and setup
- Design Overview
It overviews flight controllers, gimbal control, camera modules, vsison and sensor systems, remote control and battery packs.
It also compares Trapezoidal (BLDC) and Sinusoidal (Field Oriented Control).
The 2nd section discusses design requirements for the battery pack with respect to:
Safety
- Over Voltage
- Over Current
- Over Temperature
User experience
- Under Voltage
- Cell Imbalance
There are plenty of schematics, block diagrams, charts and graphs to support the presentation.
If you are at all interested in drones and quadcopters, make sure you attend this event. You can still sign up here How to extend flight time and battery life of quadcopters and industrial drones with electronic speed controllers
