If you are interested in LTE-Development the Monarch LTE Development Kit is an ideal starting point.  The Monarch LTE-M Development Kit is a cellular IoT enablement platform that features the NXP LPC55S69-EVK and the Monarch Go Arduino Shield. Unlike traditional cellular modules, this modem is certified for use on the Verizon network, which avoids costly lab testing while improving time to market. The Monarch Go has an integrated antenna and pre-installed Verizon ThingSpace IoT SIM card, giving developers an easy, cost-effective approach to developing LTE IoT solutions.

    Tariq,

     

    These workshops sound very interesting, but I do have a question.  It seems that whether you buy the kit or earn one in the giveaway, the Verizon SIM card is included, but not the data plan.  Is it possible to signup for a free 2-month trial of a connectivity data plan?  This should get us through the 3 workshop and a little more.  Merry Christmas.

    I am very much interested,

    My major speacialisation is Internet of Things Engineering but I have not been able to make much progress.

    I would love to participate in this workshop and further my IoT journey with LTE-Development

     

    I'm currently in Middler year of my BSc. Computer Sciences in the University of Lagos.

    I would like to participate, because at work we develop vehicle tracking units with 2G modules and still waiting, which technology to use next. There are still no definitive plans to switch off 2G in most countries in EU. 3G has now worse coverage than 2G/4G and 5G is a not so close future (and LTE-M should be part of 5G). It is currently very hard to build a product usable in the whole Europe. However, there is no LTE-M coverage in Czech Republic at the moment (one service provider has two testing base stations that can be activated upon request). So it will be interesting to see, how the situation evolves in the future - customers don't want to adopt a technology that has no broad international coverage and service providers want to get their network investments back so they don't rush implementing something that wouldn't be used extensively.

     

    EDIT: I clarified that I meant developing units with 2G modules (both HW and FW development). I also added that I am describing situation in the Czech Republic (with mentions to EU).
