Are you interested in learning more about vibration and alignment tools & testing for machinery maintenance

This poll is to check your interest in industrial equipment alignment and vibration testing. We are trying to determine if this is an area where the community has an interest and whether we should offer more content and information in these areas.

At work we use vibration testing on the motors that drive the PSR antenna. It tends to show bearing issues before they manifest into bigger issues ...

Odd, it appears as if i brought the poll back, that's odd because I only check the latest posts from the "content" menu.

This seems from a long while back, did it ever go ahead?

I have a high level of interest in this subject.

    Kind regards.

I voted no - because I have no serious interest in the subject (ie I won't be buying any stuff !).

Of course any subject can be interesting if suitably presented.

Vibration analysis is quite interesting, different type of vibrations can indicate different kind of problems. Some time ago I made a Labview/python program to perform realtime order tracking (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_tracking_(signal_processing)). The nice thing about order tracking is that it doesn't depend on the rotational speed and it ignores non rotational unrelated vibrational noise. Basically when you do order tracking you convert a time series into what could be called an "angular series", that is, instead of keeping measurements at every dt, you keep them at every dtheta. So in the case of say bearings you know that their balls roll at a defined factor of the axis rotation speed, through fourier analysis then you can actually measure vibration caused by bearings balls.

I'm interested in vibration and vibration sensing, but not much in applications of vibration monitoring for machinery diagnostics.

Sorry Randall, I intended to click 'Yes' but I seem to have hit the No button : ( and I cannot undo it.

I have used Vibration test equipment for harmonic measurement, but just not sure if I will ever be in the industry again.
