Greetings!
I'm writing today because I have been corresponding with one of my colleagues at Avnet about Software Defined Energy Management. SDEM for short.
SDEM is a technology that can influence how one designs and manages energy, power and thermal characteristics of electronic devices.
SDEM tools can do a few interesting things, like managing a device’s sleep, suspend, and dark wake states; coordinating power state changes for components; and changing power states by directly accessing hardware components—including clock dividers, PLLs and PMICs.
Given the interest in portable, battery-powered applications, sometimes called "power-constrained" apps, anything that can optimize energy consumption seems useful.
SDEM has been used to improve power consumption on Avnet's UltraZed-EG board. Here's a video:
Would you like to learn more about SDEM? Would you prefer a blog, a tutorial, training module, a webinar to start? If you have the time, please vote below. Thanks.
