do we need to buy a battery for codebug to work

I have used it with a battery and have heeded the warnings about removing it.
Removing the battery needs some kind of insulated tool* to push it out as it is a tight fit to both insert and remove.
Lollipop stick would do it...
CodeBug + Lollypop maybe a good bundle
