They offer classroom-ready lesson plans designed specifically to help you deliver the curriculum at Key Stage 3. Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit main

 

While these resources have been produced for the classroom they are also a great introduction to the world of robotics. They can be used by anyone wanting to get more from their :MOVE mini. Cherry pick your areas of interest and begin coding your first custom robot now!

 

Devising quality resources for Teachers has always been a key part of the Kitronik product development cycle. Because the curriculum can be a complicated animal, it has also been our policy to regularly seek advice from Teachers. This time we’ve gone a step further! We worked directly with a Teacher to deliver lesson plans that are ready to take straight to the classroom.

 

All of the lessons were written by Lorraine Underwood (@LMcUnderwood ) and formatted by Kitronik. We think this is a fantastic set of resources. Hence, we have worked with Lorraine to produce other resources for Teachers.

 

 

4 Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit:

We have provided these lesson plans as a free resource. The download is a .zip file that contains the 4 lesson plans. The lessons include curriculum mapping, practical challenges and also linked PowerPoint presentations.

 

 

Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit 1Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit Lesson 1 Summary:

 

This is an introductory lesson for students in Key Stage 3 for robotics with the Kitronik :MOVE mini for BBC micro:bit. The lesson involves the teacher discussing how we make robots move: first in plain English, then through algorithms, then through code. The teacher will write the algorithms on the board and the students will create the code using the algorithm as a guide.

Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit - Lesson 2 Summary:

This is the second lesson on robots for students in Key Stage 3 to robotics. The lesson involves a discussion about automation. Students will write their own algorithms on how to draw certain shapes using a robot. They will then code a shape in pairs using their algorithms as a guide. The teacher will then introduce functions as a more efficient way of drawing multiple shapes.

 

 

 

 

Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit 3Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit - Lesson 3 Summary:

This is the third lesson on robots for students in Key Stage 3. The lesson involves a discussion about autonomous robots. Students will write algorithms to make a robot move towards a compass direction then how to control the robot using a line follower. They will then code the robots to move around a map on the ground.

 

 

 

 

 

Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit 4Lesson Plans For :MOVE mini For The microbit - Lesson 4 Summary:

Finally, this is the fourth lesson on robots for students in key stage 3. You will discuss radio control with the students and they will send each other radio messages. You will discuss privacy, ethics and security. Students will then send radio messages to the robots to make them move remotely.

    I do like the :MOVE mini mobile robot chassis. I ilke the use of large wheels. Not so keen on the price. but then they don't make it just for me! I'd probably want to use an Arduino as well. Dubbie
