Introduction

Our 10 BBC micro:bit Projects in 10 Days series introduced the incredible creative potential of this unique pocket sized computer system. But we've really only scratched the surface. Now we want to hear your ideas.

The BBC micro:bit is currently only available for sale in the UK through Farnell element14, CPC and our approved re-sellers, but we've managed to secure ten devices to give away to members of our global community.

How to Enter

For your chance to get hold of one of these sought-after devices, simply read our 10 BBC micro:bit Projects in 10 Days series and 'like' your two favourite projects to earn the BBC micro:bit badge. Then, leave a comment under this blog telling us about a project you'd like to try out using the BBC micro:bit.

The ten participants who submit the best, most creative project ideas will each receive a BBC micro:bit and will be invited to write about their project here on element14.

Submissions are open until 23:59 (BST) on Sunday 31st July 2016. Full terms and conditions can be in the attached PDF.

To find out more about the BBC micro:bit initiative and the unique functionality of the device, visit the official BBC micro:bit website or read our exclusive interview with Premier Farnell's Strategic Alliance Director Richard Curtin.

I have been intrigued with the BBC micro:bit since it was announced last year. It represents a very ambitious and visionary initiative to boost interest in technology and computing. I suspect the dividends…

Apologies for the delay guys. We had some shipping issues but these are now resolved and we'll be sending them out this week. Looking forward to seeing all of your projects.

I'm a teacher at a Primary School in London (http://twitter.com/@willowbrookpri) and have been reading enviously about how secondary schools have been allocated free BBC Micro:bit computers to teach Year 7 computing.  I've therefore been looking forward to the retail launch date and got to see how easy it was to be programming on to the Micro:bit a week ago at a workshop organised by the Computing at School network (http://www.computingatschool.org.uk) hosted at University College London and led by two fantastic speakers / facilitators.  Based on that workshop experience, I've got hold a Micro:bit a week before it's official general release date.  My project / programming idea is linked to the fact that from September, I will be teaching a Year 6 class where the topic for the Autumn Term will be the Second World War.  The school I work for is very eager for teachers to engage all children's learning by creating almost world-class museum standard interactive displays.  So my project idea is to buy the necessary equipment to make use of the Micro:bit sound feature and record onto the Micro:bit an audio file of a 1940s British air raid siren - so children get to hear / think about what it must have been like to live through times when the threat of bombardment was preceded by the piercingly haunting wail of the air raid warnings.  Rather than playing it on a timed loop, I will also buy the necessary equipment to create a motion sensor so that the air raid warning will only sound when somebody is passing the sensor as they walk through the corridor outside what will be my classroom.  The children I will be working with will get to help and learn to code as well as connect all of this equipment to make this project happen.
