Where to buy a blue Micro Bit?

jesser2
jesser2 over 8 years ago

My brother, after attending a computing workshop in Sydney, came back with a micro bit which he was very happy with. It's his birthday soon, and earlier, he had suggested another micro bit, as to be able to use them in tandem, as something he would be interested in. Purely for aesthetic reasons (I think), he said he would like a blue one. But from what I can find, there's nowhere where I can find that you can specify the colour when you buy.

Does anyone know anywhere where I can buy one and specify the colour? Or would anyone have a blue one that they are willing to sell?

Regards, JesseR.

Yeah, as I understand it, it's entirely random. The micro:bits aren't sold by colour (there are four, I think?). There's no difference in terms of function, or manufacturing, or iteration, though. All…

Thanks all for your replies. Sounds like picking an individual one is not really viable, and perhaps my best options are to just get him a single unit, and he can like it or lump it, or get a pack of 10…

Kind of makes me think of the Panini collectors stickers, where you'd buy packs in the hope that you'd get the last one you needed (and never did!) I remember trying for months to get a baby Ewok sticker…

    Hi @Jesse_R

As far as I am aware, the BBC micro:bit only comes in the one colour. I wouldn't advise painting it!!!

Sorry, mine's a green one so I can't help you [don't think the postage and taxes to send it from the UK would make sense anyway].

I think it's random what you get (I'd have liked a yellow one) - I doubt that a store would want to start opening the packages to look for you.

    Good luck with finding one.

Apologies! I made an assumption based on insufficient evidence - I have 3, from 2 different suppliers, acquired at 3 different times, and they are all red.

I can sell you a used one for say 15 plus postage. It'll cost me 15 Inc postage to get a new one
