Open-Source Cardiography Signal Measuring Device

Hi!

I started writing on E14 in January of 2018 when I was first year of college, 6 and a half years later and around 70 blogs here later, I've finally gotten my Master's degree in Electrical Engineering! This site was a crucial part of that journey because I gained more relevant, practical experience by reading other member's blogs and working on my projects than through classes! I've made my Master's thesis project open-source, as the name of the project implies, it's a device for measuring and analyzing cardiography signals. I'll do a video or a long blog about everything on E14 as well, but until then, if someone wants to check it out, here is the GitHub repo: https://github.com/MilosRasic98/OpenCardiographySignalMeasuringDevice/tree/main

My goal with this project was to experiment with blood pressure measurement algorithms where I might have added a few more things along the way! So the device measured the air pressure in the arm cuff, ECG, PPG, and signals from a stethoscope that I've converted into a digital one. Through all of my research, the main thing I found is that commercial blood pressure monitors don't have a standard way of being tested, like an apparatus, their results are just compared to previous devices. The gold standard in 2024 for non-invasive blood pressure measurements is still the manual method with a hand pump and a stethoscope!

Below are a few pictures of the device as well as the GUI I developed for it.

P.S. If you are reading the GitHub and have any questions or comments (or if translation is needed somewhere, pictures still in Serbian) feel free to write to me!

Kind regards.

Milos
