Time to put up the Christmas lights - with a difference.

I've not been as active as I'd have liked on E14 over the last year or so. That's something I hope to change. I've mainly been busy with a new job (with lots to learn), but also the change from Jive to Verint at the same time didn't help. Nothing felt quite in the same place.

Anyway, I feel it's time for something Christmassy. Something silly. Something fun. Something likely to fail, but that doesn't really matter.

I'm really not a fan of putting up Christmas light. We tens to hang then along the roofline of our house. It looks good, but it's high. I always end up standing at the very top of a long ladder, often with the top rung about knee height and my hand against the wall. It feels dangerous. Frankly, it is dangerous. Each year I swear I'm not doing it again. Time to get smart about it.

  • So, on to the project. I decided to start the blog before starting the project. If it fails (and that seems likely) then it'll be documented for all to see. No problem. I at least hope it's an entertaining failure.

    imageEarlier this year on the recommendation of a friend, I bought a drone. It did a great job documenting a family holiday to Costa Rica - the first big holiday we've done for about 5 years and one that my boys (11 and almost 9) were old enough to appreciate. The DJI Mini 2 is an impressive bit of kit for taking photos, but can it also hang up Christmas lights? YouTube suggests people have tried and failed, but that's not going to put me off! Also, I was sensible enough to take out some drone damage insurance when I bought it, so the financial risk of a crash should be manageable.

    OK, so now you know there's no going back. Time to get planning...
