Over the years I have first hand experience of the unimaginable pain of getting the spark from a spot welding gun in my eye and having the debris removed. I bare the scar on my eye to prove my stupidity. Fortunately it never affected my sight. I was lucky many aren’t. Statistics for America say that there are 8000 eye injuries a year. Extrapolate that to take in the rest of the world and that number will run into hundreds of thousands. We have all been in situations where PPE is mandatory and often it is the minimum requirement and often that does not include safety glasses. So whilst most would not regard safety glasses as a tool they are a tool in your armoury for keeping safe. There are a lot of different types of safety specs ranging from standard safety specs through to laser safe glasses. Not the first thing you would spend $50 on? Perhaps it should be.
