Happy Pi Day

kmikemoo over 5 years ago

Ah-h-h!  A day to celebrate being mathematical. image    I jumped on to see what other have posted and...  Hello?  Hello?  Is this thing on?  I must be on the wrong frequency.

Actually, this fits with my observation.  Last year at this time - when we were heading into lockdowns and social distancing, local businesses made a bit deal about Pi Day.  One of the local gas station/convenience stores was selling pies for... you guessed it, $3.14.  This year, with the prospects of vaccination and less restrictions, we have heard almost nothing.  Could it be just my area?  We are having unseasonably warm weather.  Is it that we aren't doing in school learning - so the Raspberry Pi isn't getting into the hands of budding young scientists, engineers and makers?

For me, I'm eating pie today as an act of defiance to those who won't celebrate.  My fork shall be my instrument of rebellion against apathy and indifference!  imageimage

I didn't know there were that many types of chocolate available....I have some catching up to do. And I also made the mistake of Googling the Stampede cake - wow !

Instead of a pie, I had a Chocolate Stampede cake with six types of chocolate.

the-dubster  Congratulations on getting the COVID vaccine!  I think COVID brain is a real thing.

As crazy as making a big deal out of Pi Day is/was, it adds a push pin to the timeline of life - so 2021 doesn't feel like 2020 where every day was Groundhog's Day (like the Bill Murry movie).

Getting vaccinated is a pretty good push pin. imageimage

I completely forgot to actually come online yesterday . . . . after considering it several times the days prior . . . . . . oh well.

    Hopefully you enjoyed your Pie.

I'm claiming having my COVID vaccine yesterday made me forget . . . .

Better still I made a massive veg pie for dinner tonight (using some puff pastry from the freezer) - I boiled up a selection of frozen and fresh veg in milk and cheese before topping off with a slice of pastry, and it was really nice. So thank you balearicdynamics  for the menu idea image

All of the activity that I see is in the suburbs, but I don’t get into cities much anymore.  I’m about 10 miles south of Portland.

It really seems more like people are trying to upgrade, i.e. move into a better house.  Not sure why that makes sense, but news media attributes it to spending more time at home.  Pre-existing houses in my area sell really fast, most are only on the market for a few days.  But there is a lot of new building happening a little further out and those also sell out quickly (usually during construction).  I guess a lot of people still have money to spend.

14rhb I did think about AND logic but either input should have met the requirement.  I didn't have to have both.  I probably shouldn't have had both.  Now I'll have to AND logic the exercise bike AND the elliptical.  Well worth it.
