Happy Pi Day

kmikemoo
kmikemoo over 4 years ago

Ah-h-h!  A day to celebrate being mathematical. image    I jumped on to see what other have posted and...  Hello?  Hello?  Is this thing on?  I must be on the wrong frequency.

Actually, this fits with my observation.  Last year at this time - when we were heading into lockdowns and social distancing, local businesses made a bit deal about Pi Day.  One of the local gas station/convenience stores was selling pies for... you guessed it, $3.14.  This year, with the prospects of vaccination and less restrictions, we have heard almost nothing.  Could it be just my area?  We are having unseasonably warm weather.  Is it that we aren't doing in school learning - so the Raspberry Pi isn't getting into the hands of budding young scientists, engineers and makers?

For me, I'm eating pie today as an act of defiance to those who won't celebrate.  My fork shall be my instrument of rebellion against apathy and indifference!  imageimage

    "...One of the local gas station/convenience stores was selling pies for... you guessed it, $3.14..." Due to a difference in calendar formats, pie works out more expensive over this side of the pond, …

    I was somewhat surprised by the lack of activity for Pi day also. I expected a few more electronics related sales . It seems the Element14 site is still having problems today... Our oven broke around Thanksgiving…

    I had cake today, even though it was not my cake-day. And I had 2 pieces, together 6.28 cm long. Now I am totally confused. Marble cake was delish.

    wolfgangfriedrich  2 cake ≈ 2π   Close enough! One of my favorite pies is Boston Cream Pie - which is pretty much a cake with custard filling. image

    And what category does a Whoopie Pie really belong?  I had one of those today also - along with the apple pie.  OR Gate dining.  No XOR on Pi Day.

    Wouldn't that be AND gate dinning ?

    Or maybe a concat function?

    char *whoopie = "whoopie pie";
    char *apple = "apple pie";
    char str[80];
    strcpy(str, "Mike's Pi Day: ");
    strcat(str, whoopie);
    strcat(str," and ");
    strcat(str, apple);

    And you'll have to forgive me here, but that logic would need to be 8-bit....as you'd need to take a whole byte image

    kmikemoo Thanks for opening the challenge to find/make a Boston Cream Pie. So far I only knew about Boston Cream Donuts and they always had not enough filling inside. I hope to unlock this achievement very soon.

    14rhb I did think about AND logic but either input should have met the requirement.  I didn't have to have both.  I probably shouldn't have had both.  Now I'll have to AND logic the exercise bike AND the elliptical.  Well worth it.
