I have seen a few videos on the Pi and some of the amazing things it can do. I decided to see if it was as easy as the videos made it out to be. Ordered my first board today. Talk to you all later for help, tips, and tricks.
Great to have you here! If you haven't found it already, make sure to check out the Raspberry Pi Group and Accessories group too! Ben Heck is always a fun way to learn new tips and tricks for projects too!
The pi can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be, I guess it depends what you are using it for. The raspberry pi web page has many different linux os to choose from or if your interested in a media player download raspbmc. I run the media player on one tv and really like it. The linux os downloads are from easy to advanced, I started with the easy and moved on up. Since they run off of a SD card it is easy to change them out. If you are familiar with linux you will have no problems or if your not, it is an easier way to start learning. As Nicole mentions, those links are a great place to start!!!
Enjoy and we are all here to answer questions

Thank you Ms Fusz.
Ben Heck is one of the reasons I bought the Pi. His videos are very informative and give one the confidence to try things out. I will indeed look into the other groups mentioned. Thank you again for the response and advice.

Dear Mr. Winhold,
Thank you for your response. The pi has turned out to be just the adventure I needed. So, far I can power up the Pi sign on start the desktop emulator and run the shutdown command. I have work command line before in MS DOS and DR DOS. I had forgotten how picky syntax can be. I am enjoying the relearning immensely.
I have tried to load other flavours of Linux onto my own SD cards but have not been successful in getting one to load. I did buy a preloaded OS card with my Pi so it's not holding me back but it is a skill I would love to own. Is there a video or printed steps you could suggest where I could see step by step how to do it?
Thank you for your time.
Ray
Hello Mr. Konold,
I am very glad you are enjoying the pi. I will PM you when I get home and send you the information for making the SD cards. Due to everything being Linux you need a program to load the cards off of Windows. I know there is a lot of information on the net, but it can be a bit confusing. I know I did a lot of trial and error at the beginning. I will contact you shortly.

Hello Mr. Winhold,
Thank you very much. I need to give you a platform correction. I use a MacBook running OSX ver 10.6.8. Again thank you very much and please call me Ray.

Hi Dale,
That was a great video. I watched it three times. The third time I followed with the gentlemen and it just finished writting the image. Now to see if it worked. Back in a few seconds.

Hi Dale,
Success! I am now running my Pi with a version of Wheezy that I sent to a SD card. I don't feel so timid now that I now I can get back to square one if I make a system wide disastrous mistake. The gloves are off and I'm ready to take corners at 90 MPH. LOL Well, you get the flavour of my excitement.
Thanks for all your time and help.
