How Did You Celebrate National Engineer's Week?

nlarson
nlarson over 11 years ago

This week was National Engineer's Week in the United States - what did you do to celebrate?   National Engineer's Week started in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers that was created to recognize and celebrate engineers and their accomplishments.  A big THANK YOU to all of you engineers out there contributing to the progress in this industry around the world (and beyond! image)

If you're not in the United States how does your country celebrate engineers?

Unfortunately engineers don't really seem to be celebrated in the UK.

An article has been published by the telegraph recently relating to this very situation.

Celebrate engineers over X Factor stars, says Professor Brian Cox - Telegraph

    Likewise here in NZ.

Unfortunately the engineering behind the infrastructure and the like is invisible.

We have the same at work (NZ ATC) where everyone recoginses the Controllers but as they point out its not possible without all the supporting fields.

I guess the old saying about the barking dog tends to apply to many industries, and sadly unless you're on the inside its not so obvious.

So well done Engineers (and the other supporting fields) the world over. image
