I have a question related to LCD screens, and Clem seems to be one of the Go-To people (at least he responds in a helpful manner).

I understand that the writing of interface software is part of the dark arts, and proper robing is needed to perform the activity, but, why is there always such a mystery about the interface registers for LCD drivers.  The spec sheets only go as far as the RGB pins for the LCD, but devices akin to the ST7735, that actually create the raster signals are always shrouded in mystery.  Most times whey I try to dissect instructions and messages getting transferred to the controller, I come across comments like "don't understand this one", or "this one works", or the best "what I was told to use".  I get that most of the information is coming from the manufacturer and needs at least three or four levels of translation, but if there are standards or real sources for spec sheets, I would find that extremely helpful.

This is mostly because I get interface code from vendors, that provides a user level that kind of meets requirements as interpreted by their engineers (some people shouldn't write code), and like most engineer types, I think I can do better, if I had the information.

    Thanks,

    Jack
