Question

I am a late starter, some would say a very late starter, I have come to the RP with no knowledge of Linux or programming.

I have purchased two projects one a zero camera the other being the 7"screen and P3B+, the camera works ok but the idea of glueing a large nut to act as a heatsink gives me problems. I do not like going down a road without knowing how I am going to get out.

should a standard heat sink be sufficient?

item two the Pi3B+, I got bit working up to a point the screen is upside down and I have no keyboard, I have not yet tried an external one, Help please.

Hi Jim,

I run my RPi without a heat sink, but then I have not enclosed it in a box, so it get plenty of air flow.

A standard heat sink should work as long as you have some air flow around it.

I am assuming that you are using good thermal transfer grease to facilitate cooling.

You can also slow down the clock if you think heat is a problem.

Hi Jim,

Do you have a web link to the camera and the advice you refer to? A nut should never be used as a heatsink, It has awful thermal conductivity.. and no material in the center.

Regarding up-side down screen, that is a known documented problem with a workaround. Please see here (scroll down to the "Upside Down Situation" section) :
