Need some guru help

Sorry if this ended up in the wrong area but i need some help from some knowledgeable people. I am trying to repair my tv. I have identified three capcitors that are the problem they are blown but im not sure what to shop for. Can someone point me in the right direction of what to buy?  Pics posted the side by side ones look to be the same marks the one by itself i think its a different one.

 

My soldering skills are good but never got the chance to take classes to learn more. So im comfortable doing the repairs just not sure what to buy or where to buy them.

    It may help to check any fuses on the board, as failed electrolytics sometimes cause overstress on switching transistors which can lead them to short out, blowing a fuse and necessitating replacement. Other times, it may just be the protection on the switching controller detecting bad voltages/suspected overload and shutting down in which case replacing the caps may well suffice.

     

    As caps age, they can also fail by drying out and other means which normally lead to either reduced capacitance, higher ESR or both, without venting or bulging. Heat exposure from operation, generated heat from ripple current all contribute to a capacitor's eventual demise. What looks fine can sometimes not be, from my own experience. So even if it does get working again, there could be some other caps soon on their way out.

    The tops are buldging on them. Cant see it in the photo but when you look at them across the tops it is obvious. As well as they make a clicking sound when pressed on top. No power is getting past the board to the other boards in the circuit. Everything else looks fine. The rest of the capacitors look to be in great shape considering its an 11 year old tv.

     

    Tested the output from the board to the others with one of those pointy curcuit tester probe things with the light bulb inside. It worked with a 5v source (usb cord) so i figured it could tell me if power is being pushed to the other boards.

     

    Thanks for the warnings. Im comfortable doing the repairs i just dont know what im looking for shopping wise. I put in the specs in google and keep getting A/C capacitors. Or ones that look too small.

     

    I never learned any of the formal stuff like the measurements terminology or the like. I got into soldering years ago building those robot kits from radio shack.

    For example, you could do a search on Element14 for Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitor, filtered by 820uF and 250V rating:

    How did you determine the capacitor needs replacement? You may be right, but sometimes it's good to keep in mind that there may be other things that can be wrong. Another is that the safety of tinkering with such equipment - capacitors can hold a charge that can be unpleasant through to even lethal.

     

    From your image, which is very blurry, it looks like a Samyoung 820uF 250V electrolytic capacitor rated at 105 degrees C (in brown). Ultimately, if this is the part you want to replace, then it's good to purchase a low-ESR capacitor of an equivalent 820uF rating and a voltage rating of at least 250V. Changing with another unit that comes from a reputable brand is highly recommended (e.g. Panasonic, Rubycon, ELNA, Nippon-Chemi-Con, Nichicon or Sanyo). You will need to check the spacing between the legs and the height of the can if it's a tight fit.

     

    Likewise, perhaps try taking a clearer photo - use the Macro mode on your camera if you can. When dealing with mains, be careful - any mistake could be disastrous. Electrolytic capacitors are polarized - get them in the wrong way around and you will ... have some loud noises and magic smoke.

    Hi Joshua,

    Your picture is not clear, Try clicking on the small picture icon in the tool bar and insert the picture using that procedure. That may help identify the part.
