Searching for specific flat flexible cable, not easy task :-(

Hello I'm new to this forum so bear with me if I'm not in the right area posting this question.  I've been searching for a specific flat flexible cable that I didn't realize was going to be this complicated to find. I'm working on my Korg keyboard. I need flexible cable for a modified floppy drive adapter I'm installing. I've had no luck searching for one anywhere, and believe me I've looked everywhere. The specs I need are:

24 pin

1.25mm pitch

Contacts Opposite Sides of each other.

At least 14 inches long, no less.

I have checked this one site where I'm logged in at where I get quotes from different companies but it seems like they want a minimum order for a thousand cables match is way too many all I need is a few. Why are these cables so hard to find?

If anybody has any advice where I can pick up a few of these csbles like this I'd appreciate it ...thanks!,

thank you for the quick response. I just checked the site you provided. The shipping charges are outrageous for a couple ribbon cables ..almost the same cost total for buying a hundred of them from this other company. But thank you anyways though  I'm still gonna keep looking.

Are you looking for a ribbon cable assembly with a connector on it?

Normally cable with this pitch is single-sided "flex" - the wires are just traces on a flexible substrate and the "connector" is just the bared ends of the traces (which are plated to minimize oxidation) - they just get clamped into a pcb-mounted flex connector. The connector pins may be separated into 2 rows for connection to the PCB, but internally the cable connections are on only one side of the cable...

Flex cable is almost always custom made for a specific application because the "connectors" are plated, making it unsuitable for trimming to size - consequently there are only a few "standard" high-volume sizes on the market.

Do you have a picture or a sketch of what you are looking for?

Thank you for responding. I am aware of the specifications of flat fexible cable. I do not need the connectors themselves as they are on the pcbs.  I do not have drawings nor images of the cables i need. All I can provide is what specs I provided in my original post. I figured that the people that sell the cables would know what I needed by the specs I provided.  Thank you again.

Is this the type of cable you are looking for?

These would need to be trimmed down to 24 pins...

10 Pcs FFC FPC 40 Pin 1 25mm Pitch Ribbon Flat Cable Wire ZIF HDD 700mm Long New | eBay

    AWM 20798 Ribbon Flex Cable Same Side 1 25 mm Pitch 29 Pin 500mm 29pin 50cm | eBay

Flat Flex Cable 32 Pin 635 mm Long 1 25 mm Pitch | eBay

    AWM 20798 Ribbon Flex Cable Same Side 1 25 mm Pitch 29 Pin 500mm 29pin 50cm | eBay

Or you xcan use this guide to specify an exact part number...

Hi, thank you for the response. I checked those four ebay links you provided. two of them are identical links. I do notice that they are the right pitch, but the backing is not on the opposite side. I need to have the contacts on the opposite sides of each other. In other words on one end of the cable the contacts are facing UP with the support backing on the bottom. And on the other end of the cable it is just the opposite, the contacts facing DOWN with the support backing on top. Those cables you are showing  have the end contacts on the same ide of cable.

    Thank you.

Have you considered soldering 2 cables together - this would end up with the end connectors on opposite sides.

Hi,  no I haven't tried that yet. Actually I never thought of doing that, mainly because I haven't got the ribbon cables to do it with.  Although your idea is not a bad idea,  it just  that since I would have to order the cables to solder together anyways, I think I should get right cable I need,  to avoid that step. Not to mention the fact that I never did that before I be afraid to melt the cable.
