Now you probably are already very familiar with HDMI and its various standards, ultimately it is a tricky port to solder, and it's even more awkward to 'get right' because it uses a method of transferring packets of data at a very high speed. There're also other connectors you're likely familiar with , those used to terminate your category 5, 6 or 7 networking cables, SATA cables, and even others used in higher speed data centres for networking and other data transfer throughput.
What I personally don't know, is:
- Which connector is best for which standard?
- Why are there so many similar standards? (For example, VGA can go over DVI, which can go over HDMI, which can go over DisplayPort? Why?)
- What's the fastest protocol standard for going over these connectors?
- What's the best way to implement these connectors, and what's the best setup for dielectrics when connecting them to their counterparts on a printed circuit board?
We want to look at creating an element14 presents video based on high speed connectors.
Where should we be focusing our efforts on helping to introduce this topic and the surrounding technical information to help best supplement these parts?
