Right to Repair "Fluke"

¡RIGHT TO REPAIR!

Norwegian representative would not sell me part…

I’m trying to repair a water damaged Fluke 179 and weird as it is, one of the contact’s on the inner rotary switch was broken of.
Tried to contact the Norwegian Representative for Fluke to get a new inner rotary switch, but the only answer I got was: "We do not sell this part for repair. But if you want to repair your meter we can do it for 3125NOK (285USD)… "
Why can’t I just buy a new inner switch???!!

Ok, I know Fluke want to maintain their quality and security by repairing their products.
But when I buy a product, that’s now my product. And if I want to repair it myself I should be allowed to do that, and to buy the parts I need to accomplish this.

Please comment what you think.

Thanks

I have had a hard time in the past getting Fluke to repair their own meters. I know that I've griped about this before so I will refrain from retelling the stories. Note the plural. While I love my 87…

So I should mention that I am repairing this Fluke 179 just because I love to repair stuff and like the challenge. And this is a heavily water damaged Fluke, but it would be fun to see if I get it to work…

Have you considered buying a used one that does not work to salvage the switch?

Take two broken units to make one working one.

Yep, it has crossed my mind, and so has several other solutions.
So time will show how I fix the switch issue.
