steppers (x4)

Jan Cumps

Can you have enough stepper motors? Maybe.

I did an investment. I had one driver IC and a good motor. I added 4 somewhat heavier motors, and 4 Allegro A4988 drivers.

One more strange stepper is on its way from China:

Goal is to control them with a single Pico.

Jan Cumps Looks like a CD ROM or DVD drive mechanism.

I look forward to seeing what you make with them.

I have a bunch of stepper motors I salvaged from old printers and CD/DVD drives.

Maybe I will get ambitious and make a project.

This reminded me of a rather heavy box of motors I have. There's a healthy mix of servos, dc motors with reduction gears, and steppers (most of them salvaged from old equipment). I've been telling myself that I'll find a use for them for like 10 years, and I intend to keep telling myself that for several years more :D

Jan Cumps You can also get shorter ones for Z axis in 3.5 floppy drives if needed.

I look forward to see what you create with the steppers. I got a couple, they are too heavy for my small robots and projects.

I really wanted to try out the linear gear with stepper to see if the linear speed can be useful without jamming.

Nice collection of motors. Great to see how many you can drive from your Pico.

I have a collection of tiny steppers that I intend to use for a tiny robot (~ 1 cubic inch).
