With web browsers adopting AI copilots, is SEO slowly becoming irrelevant?

Search has always been the backbone of SEO. But now we’re entering a phase where browsers themselves are integrating AI copilots that summarize content, suggest answers, and even bypass traditional search results altogether.

If users get direct, conversational answers in their browser without clicking links, what does that mean for organic traffic and the future of SEO? Will SEO evolve into optimizing for AI responses instead of Google rankings? Or is this just another wave of change like mobile-first indexing, voice search, etc., where SEO adapts but doesn’t die?

AI still needs to query search engines, collect the data from various web page, then provide the summary. Since most of the traffic will be generated by AI bots, yeah SEO needs to evolve to accomodate AI bot query instead of "organic traffic".

When you see content like this, which is by a company advertising their services, and not relating to the tone or content that we have on the element14 Community, please report it to the moderation queue.

balajivan1995 if you want to discuss this kind of thing, sure, maybe create a thread in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning group, but when a company comes onto the site purely to gleam market research and advertise their services in their profile, we don't accept that kind of content here.
