Sad story and a lesson to everyone.
We've seen posts here that promote unsafe practices with mains voltages and to element14's credit they have removed them.
Unless people know something is not safe, they aren't aware it is dangerous.
Children don't really have in built safeguards, and learn from their parents/teacher/siblings.
Society seems to be heading to a 'lets all learn from video's' which unfortunately is not able to interact with people as they do 'whatever' that needs cautioning.
Soldering irons are a good example.
Easy when its just you using it, but in a group they tend to get passed, and guess which end the excited student trys to grab.
I am in favour of "don't try this at home", but I also prefer 'here is the safe way to do this'.

In tech school, they went to great pains to make sure that we all understood the hazards of working with electricity.
I have seen the damage done to a 40KW laser power supply that I accidentally shorted and I have experienced high frequency RF burns.
So I always use a modified version of the Mythbusters line "Don't Try this at home unless you have someone who understands the danger to supervise.
Let there be no doubt to all newbies. Electricity can KILL.
Do not assume you know what you are doing. Seek professional help or suffer the consequences.
Plus your mother will never forgive you for doing something stupid that got you killed.
