What is your favorite road test on element14? Either one you did or one someone else did.

Or what road test would you most like to see on this forum?

One of my motives for asking this question is to discover if I missed any great road tests, so be sure to include a link.

  • It is definitely difficult to choose. I looked at just the road tests I've done because the amount of work they took tips my scales in their favor. I've done 24 road tests (about 2 per year), 8 of them were bench instrumentation. These instruments were not only enjoyable road tests, they now form the backbone of my workflow - much more so than the many instruments I have won in competitions. This is obviously because I apply for road tests of instruments I need or know I will use. The most surprising road test I ever did was the B&K BA6010 Battery Analyzer - because it turned out to be able to accurately measure a wide variety of passive components in addition to batteries. However I enjoy creating projects much more than testing instrumentation. So my favorite road test right now is not an instrument, it is the Arduino Giga R1. It just has such a vast ability to tackle cool and creative applications, including complex projects that you wouldn't expect a microcontroller to easily do.

    My favorite road test in the development kit (Not test and measurement instruments but purely PCB device) range would be something with Display shield or kind of HDMI/MIDI display that is compatible with Raspberry pi and new SoCs such as STM32-H series or ESP-p4 series.

    Because nobody is damn going to send you a display for free. They will send a dev. board with their SoC on it, but display (that to compatible) is hard to get. hahaMoney mouth

    It would be awesome to see more displays in the kits but at least the Giga R1 road test came with a great capacitive touch screen display...Slight smile

    Right. I maybe applied for that one but did not get it or maybe I did not cause I was doing another road test. 

    After Randall is gone, the road test is not that exiting thing that much.
